Prospects of Oil and Gas Content on the Caspian
Expected hydrocarbon resources can increase at least 5 times the currently known commercial reserves of oil and gas in Kazakhstan. Given the present oil and gas condensate production level, geologists-oilmen would need to annually discover fields to ensure growth of 40 to 60 million tons of recoverable oil per year in order to optimize the production/increment ratio. Achieving such figures is the program task of the geological service for the nearest future.

Environmental Protection and Rehabilation on UMG Fields
The Uzenmunigas (UMG) oil complex is located about 100 km inland from the Caspian Sea, and is one such older field. Over a 35-year history some 255 million tons of oil were produced within the 322,047 square kilometer field. A production peak of 16 million tons/year was achieved in 1976. Since 1988, a decrease in production of up to 20%/year occurred.
